A Weekend Detox

Quick detox methods or week-long fasting programs can be severe on your body. You will avoid troublesome side effects and potential harm by practicing a monthly two day detoxification instead of performing extended body detox plans a few times a year.

Probably the most easy way to do a weekend body detox is a fruit and vegetable fast. All you do is eat only fruit and vegetables.

Most of us prefer to eat fruit in the morning and vegetables later in the day. The best thing to do is eat your vegetables uncooked in a salad, lightly cooked in a soup, juiced or lightly. The total amount of fruits and vegetables you eat during your detox is up to you. One approach is to have a single piece of fruit every hour in the morning and then enjoy a big vegetable salad for lunch. Then you can have more fruit in the afternoon as a snack and then lightly steamed vegetables at dinner.

You won’t be starved with a fruit and vegetable detox. And if you perform it right, you definitely won’t feel deprived. Get some fruits you commonly don’t eat. Fix an exuberant salad with a big mixture of vegetables.

A periodical 2 day fruit and vegetable detox can be one factor of a successful dieting program. Weight loss and body detox go hand in hand given that our fat cells increase in size with the amount of toxic waste they retain. Detoxification has of late been catching on as a safe and healthy approach to weight loss.

A Natural Method to Body Cleansing and Health

Body detoxification and intestinal cleansing are extremely important factors of wellness and disease prevention. Our modern-day life and the rising cost of health care necessitates that more than ever. Most of us are exposed to hundreds of chemical substances every day. That, combined with poor choices in diet, lack of exercise, lean nutrition and lack of water causes our livers to get clogged with its detox function.

The consequence is fatigue, depression, sluggishness, poor complexion and a impaired immune system, which then makes us sensitive to to many types of illnesses and possibly even cancer.

Body detox and internal cleansing are most known as seasonal activities, performed several times a year for 3 or 5 or 7 days, and then it’s done. We then slip slowly back into our typical diet and lifestyle, and several months later, it’s time for another detox. Learn how to safely detox your body.

Though the seasonal body detox is a very good idea that should be pursued by most all of us, more important is cleaning up our daily routine. A better idea than the seasonal body detox program is a detox lifestyle, where you prevent as much as possible the need for a full-on detox program. Here are some good tips for creating a detox lifestyle for yourself.

Keep fresh organic fruit washed and ready to eat. Arrange the fruit in a bowl in your kitchen or dining room. Instead of getting a from the cupboard when you need a quick something, go for a piece of fruit instead. If it’s available, buy organic fruit.

Dry skin brush before you get in the shower. Buy a medium soft natural fiber brush (you’ll find them where they sell loofahs). Brush your whole body, feet and legs first, butt and torso, then hands and arms. Avoid delicate skin areas. Take a few minutes to do this before your bath or shower. You’ll give your skin a good little detox and energize your body to boot.

Drink hot water and fresh squeezed lemon juice first thing before breakfast. Your liver will get a good cleansing from it and it will sometimes stimulate your colon. Heat a cup of water, squeeze in the juice of half a lemon and sweeten with some honey, maple syrup or agave nectar. A cup of hot water and lemon is a great little mini-cleanse at the beginning of your day.

Most importantly, drink more water. If you do nothing else for your health and longevity, drink more pure water, unsweetened and unflavored. Drink at least 3 quarts a day. Other drinks do not count as your daily water requirement. There is one exception: uncaffeinated herbal tea.

Eating Correctly Using The Food Groups

Eating properly can help keep you healthy and fit. As long as you eat nutritionally your overall life will be more rewarding. Learning to eat nutritionally will keep you fit and usually you will be able to keep the proper weight for your size.

There are six food groups that you should add to your diet. These six food groups form the food pyramid as some people refer to it.

The base of the pyramid is the Bread, Grain, Cereal and Pasta food group. These foods provide complex carbohydrates, which are an important source of energy. You should have 6 to 11 servings of these foods in a day. Examples for one serving include 1 slice of bread, 1/2 cup of rice, or pasta, and 1 flat tortilla.

The next food groups going up the pyramid include the Fruits group and Vegetables group. In both groups, these foods will provide you with important nutrients such as vitamin A, vitamin C, folate or potassium. They are also low in fat and sodium and high in fiber. You should have 3 to 5 servings of vegetables or fruits each day. Examples of one serving of fruit include one medium size apple, orange or banana, cup of canned fruit, and cup of fruit juice or about 4 ounces. Only count 100 percent real fruit juice. Examples of one serving of vegetables include 1 cup of raw leafy vegetables, cup of other vegetables either cooked or raw, and about 4 ounces of vegetable juice.

The next food group above the Fruits and Vegetables are the Dairy Items and the Protein Items. Dairy items provide your body with protein and vitamins and minerals, especially calcium. You should have 2 to 3 servings of dairy products in your diet each day. Examples of one serving of a dairy item include 1 cup of cottage cheese or cup of whole milk. Protein items provide your body with much needed protein, iron and zinc. You should include 2 to 3 servings of protein daily in your diet and each serving should be between 2 and 3 ounces. Examples of one serving of protein would include 2 to 3 ounces of any type of meat, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, 1/2 cup cooked dry beans, and 1/3 cup of nuts.

At the top of the food pyramid are the Fats and Sweets. The foods in this group do not provide much in the way of nutrition. They do provide calories, which is one culprit for weight gain. Examples of this food group include salad dressings, oils, cream, butter, margarine, sugars, soft drinks, candies and sweet desserts.

A New anti Aging Drug?

A while ago my friend and I were watching a 20/20 news special about reversitol. Part of the special talked about people living longer, even with bad diets. Physicians have identified something called reversitol that is found in red wine, particularly the skin of grapes. Evidently with this type of breakthrough, there are now a ton of reversitol nutritional supplements now on the market. I looked up some reversitol reviews and made a decision about which particular one would work best for me. I have ordered a few different supplements and cant wait to begin to sense the effects of this medical find.

The studies supporting red wine suggest antioxidants in red wine called polyphenols help protect the lining of blood vessels in your heart. These antioxidants come in two main forms: flavonoids and nonflavonoids.
Flavonoids. These antioxidants are found in a variety of foods, including oranges, grape juice, apples, onions, tea and cocoa. Other types of alcohol, such as white wine and beer, contain small amounts, too, but red wine has higher levels.
Nonflavonoids. These antioxidants found in red wine have recently been of particular interest because they appear to help prevent arteries from becoming clogged with fatty blockages. However, these studies mostly involved mice ? not humans. Reversitol is the nonflavonoid that’s received the most attention from researchers.
