Naveen Jain: a Son’s Inspiration in Business and Philanthropy
July 3rd, 2009 admin
Away from his busy schedule as a business leader and philanthropist, Naveen Jain, founder and CEO of Intelius, is a devoted husband and proud father of three children, one of whom wants to follow in his footsteps. With this, a father-and-son tandem in business and philanthropy now exists in the Jains’ Medina home.
He recently joined son Ankur Jain, a sophomore business student at Wharton and founder of the Kairos Society, an elite nationwide organization of college students seeking to forge careers in entrepreneurship, during the First Kairos Summit held in New York.
Founded in 2007, the society gathers the most brilliant and promising young college entrepreneurs who are determined to “reinvent the American dream” and start their own socially responsible ventures amid economic uncertainty.
During the first Kairos Summit in April, prominent global entrepreneurs and philanthropists gave their video speeches to the young entrepreneurs, including former US President Bill Clinton and Microsoft founder Bill Gates, co-chairman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Naveen Jain joined other business leaders at the summit, which included Intelius’ Chairman Admiral Bill Owens; Bill White, President of Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum; Scott Mednick of Legendary Pictures and Mandalay Entertainment; and Ellen Kullman, CEO of DuPont.
The younger Jain honored his father while making his address, saying the older Jain gave him the mindset of an entrepreneur and cultivated in him independence to pursue his life’s interest.
Jain reveals how his father instilled in him the truth that each person is capable of creating his own destiny. He believes that waiting for things to happen will not make them happen; so it is important to keep moving constantly towards a specific goal.
Jain and Intellius have consistently stood by their commitment in supporting the entrepreneurial spirit among young people. Naveen Jain believes that the young have the knack for innovation, out-of-the-box thinking, and creativity needed by businesses in order to move forward.
