Defining Priorites for Inbound Call Centers
Unlike outbound call centers, inbound centers are there to field calls from existing and potential clients. This means that their quality of communication is, perhaps, even more important than that of outbound call centers, where agents initiate contact with potential clients. If a client is the one to phone the call center, one thing is certain from the very outset: that client needs help or information that the agent must be able to supply. Ideally, the client’s query can be answered by the first agent who takes the call. That way, there is no lag time or waiting time, and the client is reassured that the company he has selected has the answers he needs. Because of the sheer volume of inbound calls that a typical call center receives, however, it is not possible or even desirable to have an ‘expert’ answer every single call. That is why most inbound centers depend on the tier system to deal with incoming calls.
The tier system – also called multi-tier support – is a mainstay of call centers dealing with inbound calls. Within any industry, a certain predictable percentage of incoming calls will inevitably be quite simple in nature. For example, clients might phone a company to check business hours or store locations. This is true despite the fact that this type of information is available on company websites; there are still many people who find making a simple phone call quicker, easier and more convenient than searching for needed information online. Obviously, employing technical experts to deal with this type of call would be a misuse of human resources, so in a tier system, every inbound call is answered by a first tier agent. This agent greets the client and ascertains the type of query to be answered. If it is a simple question, the first tier agent answers it himself, often referring to a script. However, if the inbound call is more involved – for example, if the client has a specific question or complaint about a product he or she has purchased from the company, the first tier agent can transfer the call to a technical support specialist.
It doesn’t stop there. Most inbound centers that use multi-tier support have a total of three tiers, the third tier consisting of engineers or developers of the product of technology. In this way, the vast majority of customer requests and queries can be dealt with quickly and effectively. Basically, if the clients who call are satisfied with the responses they receive, and if the responses are delivered with a maximum efficiency and minimum lag time, the call center is doing its job well. No organization should underestimate the importance of satisfactory communication, especially in this day and age – it almost seems as though advances in technology sharpen people’s desire for effective human communication, rather than doing the opposite!
Of course, technology also has a role to play in facilitating how the company deals with inbound calls. Data from inbound calls can be recorded and reported, so that the call center can effectively predict the type of information – and the number of agents in each tier – that will be needed. The rate at which calls are transferred between agents continues to improve. Calls can be answered faster – in fact, this is one of the major concerns of clients phoning call centers. They do not want to have to spend time on hold. Technology that minimizes ‘on hold’ time and answers and transfers calls quickly leads directly to increased client satisfaction.
There are also systems available that are able to stream calls automatically. An interactive voice response or IVR asks the inbound caller what he is calling about, and transfers him directly to the appropriate agent. In the past, this type of automated service required the caller to do the work, so to speak – to punch in numbers and codes. For some callers, this presents a problem. They new IVR systems, on the other hand, allow the inbound caller to ‘converse’ verbally with the software. Though this technology is still being perfected, it is very promising.
Technology will always be a support rather than a substitute for human interaction, however. Agents are still the backbone of inbound call centers, and quality communication is the only way to ensure client satisfaction and retention.

Communicating the World in Three Inches: The Rosetta Project
The Rosetta Project is a worldwide endeavor to produce an updated version of the famous Rosetta Stone from 100 BC. Some of Napoleon’s troops discovered the Rosetta Stone in Rashid, Egypt, in 1799. They found inscribed upon the granite slab three parallel translations of a certain decree in Egyptian Hieroglyphics, Demotic and Greek. Using the Greek text, experts of the 1800s were able to decipher the previously elusive Hieroglyphic script.
Language specialists and native speakers from around the globe are joining forces to build an archive of 1,000 languages to be micro-etched onto 27,000 data pages on the Rosetta Disk, a 3” nickel disk with a life expectancy of 2,000 years. The Rosetta Project is collecting the following information for every language:
* Detailed Descriptions: Origins, histories and other relevant statistics.
* Genesis Translations: Chapters 1-3.
* Glossed Vernacular Texts: Cultural stories contrasting with the Genesis text accompanied by grammatical analysis.
* Orthographies: Written letters/symbols as well as pronunciation keys.
* Swadesh Word Lists: Essential lists of common words.
* Inventories of Phenomes: Fundamental sound units.
* Audio Files: Spoken samples with transcriptions.
The Long Now Foundation began the Rosetta Project with funding from the Lazy Eight Foundation to address the disconcerting prediction that 50-90% of the world’s languages will disappear within the next century with little documentation. The project’s mission is to provide a definitive resource for comparative linguistic research and education, to preserve a meaningful survey of human languages for future decipherment and recovery of lost languages as well as to create an aesthetic object representative of the world’s linguistic diversity.
”We hope the process of creating a new global Rosetta will help draw attention to the tragedy of language extinction as well as speed up the work to preserve what we have left of this critical manifestation of the human intellect,” declared the leaders the effort.
Currently, the archive contains 760 total languages, 938 unique texts, 5,371 individual text pages and 58 volunteer contributors. If you are a language specialist, The Rosetta Project needs your contribution! The completed Rosetta archive will be available to the public via an intricately-designed nickel disk, a gargantuan reference book and the online archive at http://www.rosettaproject.org.

Chromatography a Superiority Formula
“All flows, all changes”.
Heraclides
“It’s not difficult to know, it is difficult to get familiar”.
Skovoroda
The theory of gas chromatography, presented by the equation of Van Deemter,
(1)
shows that for each chromatographic separation there exists an optimal flow rate above and below which the column efficiency is reduced.
In practice, the linear speed of the sample zone moved by the carrier gas, is changed continuously and increases as it approaches the outlet, which results in a non-effective use of a part of the column.
In this case equation (1) characterizes the optimal separation process only in that section of the chromatographic column through which the sample passes at an optional speed.
In equation (1) are constant values and is the speed of the moving zone of the sample which changes continuously in time. Thus equation (1) gets the following form:
(2)
where is the speed of the sample at a distance from the beginning of the column and changes – increases – toward the outlet. This shows that HETP is not always optimal in all sections of the chromatographic column.
Let be the length of the chromatographic column, the pressure at the inlet of the column and the pressure at the outlet of the column, the distance of a point on the chromatographic column from its inlet.
It is evident that pressure at point on the column can be determined from the correlation
The flow rate at any point on the chromatographic column depends on pressure at that point, as well as on the inlet pressure and the outlet pressure of the column. But the pressure at any point on the column depends on the inlet pressure and the outlet pressure of the chromatographic column and on the distance from the column inlet. Thus the flow rate at any point on the column in case of fixed physical parameters of the chromatographic column can be considered as a function of pressure at this point and at the ends and of the distance of this point from the column inlet;
Consequently the whole process in the chromatographic column is characterized by a multiple of equations (3).
When at the inlet and outlet of the column the pressure is kept constant, each section of the chromatographic column, through which the sample zone moves, is characterized by its equation from multiple (3).
However the linear speed of the sample zone moving with the carrier-gas can be kept constant by programming the pressure gradient movement along the column in time, realizing the function: pressure – location – time by keeping constant the pressure difference ∆ p at the ends of the chromatographic column during the whole cycle of the analysis (Russia Patent “Chromatograph of A. S. Hayrapetyan”).
The sample travels through the chromatographic column in time
where is the length of the chromatographic column and the optimal speed of the sample zone.
The pressure at the inlet and outlet of the chromatographic column, undergoing a change at equal intervals of time, is expressed by
where – sample injection time, and – elution time.
We mark by
the sections of the chromatographic column travelled by the sample zone with an optimal velocity of the carrier-gas at the corresponding moments of time,
where – the beginning of the chromatographic column, and – the end of the chromatographic column.
Let at the moment the pressure at the inlet and outlet of the chromatographic column be correspondingly
Then at the moments of time on the corresponding sections
of the chromatographic column, the pressure will be
It may be noticed that
as well as
in this case
а
We build a matrix of pressures in the following way: let each line in it correspond to the pressures of the column at points
at a pressure at the inlet and at the outlet of the column at a moment while each column corresponds to the pressures at a point at moments of time
Thus the matrix has the following form
The first column of the matrix corresponds to the pressure at the inlet of the column, while the last one to the outlet. They are chosen such that in the column zone where the sample is found at a definite moment of time, there will always exist a constant pressure corresponding to an optimal flow rate. The first column corresponds to the moment of sample introduction, and the last one to the elution of the separated components from the column. Each element of the matrix corresponds to a definite flow rate at a definite moment of time. To each element of the matrix there corresponds a definite flow rate and followingly its equation from the multiple (3). The matrix elements corresponding to the passage of the sample with an optimal speed through the corresponding points of the column at definite moments of time are marked in yellow. For these it may be written
The carrier-gas pressure is programmed in such a way that it constantly secures an optimal linear speed for an imaginary point – the zone of the sample which travels with the carrier-gas from the inlet to the outlet of the chromatographic column in time, keeping ∆ p constant at its ends during the whole cycle of the analysis. This arithmetical model (of Hayrapetyan – Aghababyan) of chromatographic analysis built on the basis of the equation of Van Deemter describes in detail the mentioned technological process of analysis organization and corresponds to that equation from the multiple (3) which provides the optimal conditions of the analysis and leads to the attainment of the maximum possible efficiency of the column (Hayrapetyan’s Effect).
In other words the pressure at the inlet and outlet of the chromatographic column is programmed such, that the carrier-gas flow rate in the column is optimal in each section at the needed moments of time. Thus, the separation of the sample is characterized by the equations from the multiple (3)
and they are all equivalent to the equation
(4)
And thus the maximum possible efficiency of the chromatographic column is attained (Hayrapetyan’s Effect).

Wireless Broadband Basics
Wireless broadband is a general term used for the technology that is able to gain access to the internet wirelessly, and at high bandwidth speeds. Wireless broadband is available on virtually any digital device, so long as it has the proper connectivity hardware. Such hardware can easily be attached to most PDAs and laptop computers.
One of the most popular and well known wireless technology standards is Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity), which allows users to access the internet over a wireless Local Area Network. The speed and range of Wi-Fi, however, is severely limited. There is another wireless connectivity standard, called WiMAX, which is considerably more advanced.
WiMAX is a protocol by which signals are sent to wireless broadband users. A WiMAX base station can theoretically beam a signal as far as 50km (31 miles), meaning that a single station could potentially cover an entire city (unlike Wi-Fi, which is only available in “hotspots”).
Although WiMAX are networks are available in several major metropolitan areas in the US, base stations are very expensive to build, and aren’t cost effective in less densely populated areas. Because of this limitation, WiMAX technology is not yet available in most non-urban regions.
Although WiMAX has been a major technological achievement, wireless broadband certainly doesn’t stop there. There are a number of other cutting edge wireless protocols currently in development. The most notable of these is a new protocol called xMax, which is similar to WiMAX, but a lot more efficient. It can cover a broader range at a lower cost, by piggybacking on radio frequencies. Although xMax is not yet available to the public, it will most likely be launched within the next couple of years.

The Powerful and Ultra Compact Ipod Nano
You may have heard about something called the iPod Nano; or you may have just bought one (or received one as a gift…how nice!). Because at the time of this writing the iPod Nano is so new, we want to take a closer look at it here.
Chances are, most readers will want to know more about this latest creation from the thinkers at Apple.
The iPod Nano is very tiny. In fact, it’s about the size of a portable flash drive (those little memory sticks that people walk around with and plug into their laptops).
The iPod Nano has all of the features of the iPod mini, with the real differences being size, storage capacity, and technical scalability (we’ll look at this in a second).
Similar to the mini, the nano also has a color screen, and the beloved grey wheel that must be depressed in order to work (which, as noted, is a feature that Apple added based on feedback from early iPod consumers).
The iPod Nano weighs – get this – an ounce, which MacWorld equates to the heaviness of 6 credit cards.
Since most of us carry about a dozen cards in our wallet or purse – everything from library cards to gas cards to a driver’s license and more – it’s really quite amazing that something so technologically advanced could be so light!
Other remarkable features of the iPod nano include the fact that it has a stop watch, which can record lap times (which is great for those who listen to their iPod nano as they jog!).
The iPod nano also has a world clock, which is perfect for travelers, and has 22 preset listening modes.
We noted the iPod nano’s technical scalability, and this is something that many people are quite pleased with.
To enhance the functionality of this tiny little creation – and, of course, to boost sales! – Apple has enabled the iPod nano to play songs wirelessly through any home theater, via Bluetooth technology.
This is a very significant feature that many iPod nano users are extremely happy about. In seconds (even less!), they can listen to their tunes through a state-of-the-art home entertainment system: no wires, no fuss, just sitting back and hearing their favorite songs sound as good as a live concert; in some cases, even better.
While most of the publicity about the iPod Nano has been overwhelmingly positive, there is some negative feedback also. The color screen is prone to scratching, which can make reading the menus difficult.

Are The TMobile Pocket PC Exchange And Repair Programs Worth The Effort?
TMobile Pocket PC exchange and repair programs are just one of the things that consumers like about this top notch carrier. Through this program, a customer may ask for repair services or an exchange of his handheld via TMobile Pocket PC Repair Centers or through the assistance of a T-Mobile Customer Service representative.
And according to customer reviews, the T-Mobile Pocket PC repair and exchange service is something that consumers can indeed rely on.
TMobile’s After Purchase Service
As a T-Mobile customer, you can avail of the exchange or repair program if your Pocket PC is still within the warranty period (usually one year) and that the defect or damage is through no fault of your own. If such is the case, T-Mobile will send a replacement Pocket PC.
Upon receipt of the Pocket PC replacement, you will then have to fill out a replacement form and send it with the defective Pocket PC within seven days. Otherwise, T-Mobile will charge you the amount of the handheld replacement.
If, however, your Pocket PC is more than a year old (i.e., out of the T-Mobile warranty period), a replacement can still be dispatched to you while repairs are being done on your Pocket PC for a $70 fee.
Don’t want to pay the $70 fee? Call a T-Mobile Customer Service representative to know more about other options you may have regarding your defective or malfunctioning Pocket PC. Don’t be shy; many Pocket PC consumers are unaware of the options they have when it comes to repairs, rebates and exchanges concerning their gadgets.
A note about T-Mobile exchanges – if you have an old model handheld such as a Toshiba Pocket PC, T-Mobile may not be able to provide replacements or repairs for these handhelds because their manufacturers do not make them anymore.

How to Drive More Traffic to Your Web Site
One of the most popular questions I get when I speak about online marketing is how to drive more traffic to a web site. Eight different techniques for doing just that are outlined below. Save this article, and refer to it for additional ideas whenever you try to expand your online marketing campaigns:
- Business Blogging. Start a blog for your business and update it on a regular basis. A business blog is an excellent tool to toot your own horn, let the world know about your new products, and tell your target customers why they should do business with you, rather than your competitor. A business blog is also a great tool for attracting potential customers to your blog and your web site.
- Search Engine Optimization (or SEO). SEO is the process of modifying web page content and meta-information to improve the search engine ranking of the page. Successful search engine optimization will greatly increase the number of visitors that come to your web site since over 70% of people who are looking for products and services use search engines to locate them
- Article Writing and Publishing. This is another great way to drive traffic to your web site. When you write and publish your articles, other web site owners pick them up and publish them on their web sites, while giving you a link back to your web site.
- Newsletter Publishing. Keep in touch with your clients and potential clients by sending out a newsletter on a regular basis. Every time you send out a newsletter, don’t forget to invite the subscribers to visit your web site.
- Online Networking. Mention your web site address in your signature when networking online. Make sure that your web site is prominently displayed on the page, provided to you by every online networking service that you participate in, so that your fellow networkers can visit your web site.
- E-mail Signatures. Every time you send out an e-mail to one person, you have a chance to get an extra visitor for your web site. When you send an e-mail to a mailing list, you have a chance to spread the word to even more potential customers. All you need to do is to append a signature to every outgoing e-mail message. Make sure that the signature contains a powerful tagline that invites the readers to click on the link and visit your site
- Pay Per Click Search Engines. Here you can control exactly how many new visitors you want to get. There is a catch, though — you have to pay for every click to your web site. Make a budget and stick to it an make sure to monitor your account – those clicks add up fast.
- Affiliate Marketing. An affiliate program is another way to drive traffic to your web site. Your affiliates are your commissions-only sales people who make money when they sell your products. They drive traffic to your web site in exchange for commissions on sales.
Today I have discussed eight different ways of driving traffic to your web site. Which techniques are you not using yet? Take one of the techniques and incorporate it into your marketing plan. You will get a whole new pool of web site visitors coming to your web site.

The difference between a brand name Pill like Levitra and a generic Pill like Generic viagra or Generic viagra is in the name, shape and in the price. A generic drug like Generic Viagra is usually called by the name of the active ingredient Sildenafil while a manufacturer uses a brand name like Viagra. A generic drug like Generic Cialis is usually called by the name of the active ingredient Tadalafil while a manufacturer uses a brand name like Cialis. However, a manufacturer cannot possess a patent for a certain chemical agent, this is why manufacturers of generic medications like Generic Tadalafil, Generic Tadalafil, Generic viagra, can legally produce the so-called “generics”. Generic Tadalafil is the same chemically as the brand version and since the active ingredient is identical, they have the same prompt medical result for the man.
